Image Search

Keyword Search

To select images by keyword, type your words into the keyword window, at the top right of your screen and click on Search.

Keyword Phrases:

You may use AND, OR, NOT in between keywords as required. Keywords separated by spaces will have the same effect as using "and".

Examples:

cat and mouse will find images which contain both cat and mouse

cat mouse will find images which contain both cat and mouse

cat or mouse will find images which contain either cat or mouse or both

cat not mouse will find images which contain cat but not mouse i.e. it will exclude cat images containing mouse

By default the keywords will respond to a partial word match, i.e. the keyword fly will include the words flying and flyer. To ensure that variations on your keywords are not found, check the exact word match box.

Click 'GO' to begin your search.

Category Search

The category search button is attached to the left of the keyword search box.

Click the button to expand or collapse the category search facility. When expanded, the category search facility will display options to search for images from either the Truly, Madly or Deeply collection. There is also an option to search for images by orientation.

Tick the desired option(s) and click on the search button to perform a search. You can combine the category options with keywords to refine your search e.g. ✓Deeply ✓Vertical seaside, will return images which contain all these attributes

Viewing

Once search results are displayed you will see 24 thumbnail images per search results page. The current page number is shown in the menus bar along with buttons to click to the previous or next page. There is also an option to select which results page to go directly to.

Below each image the unique image reference number is displayed along with the title. In addition you will find the following icons;

Click the lightbox or basket icon to add a image - the colour change indicates the status change. To remove an image from the lightbox or basket you will need to enter the Lightbox or Basket.

Images added to the lightbox or basket will appear in the sidebar to the left of the screen. There is a tab to move between the lightbox and the basket. You can switch between Lightboxes using the pull down menu in the sidebar.

Preview

Click on the enlarge icon or the image itself to go to the image preview and see the enlarged image of the file and image details. Also listed here are the keywords attached to the image. Use these to broaden the search using one or more of the keywords, or to narrow the search (search within a search) by checking the appropriate option above the keywords and clicking on Search after ticking the selected keyword(s).

Also displayed are the pixel dimensions of any image files selected, the image size in MB uncompressed and the size at which the image will reproduce at 300dpi.

Click PREVIOUS or NEXT to preview the previous or next images in the search results or lightbox you were viewing.

Images added to the lightbox or basket will appear in the sidebar to the left of the screen. There is a tab for the lightbox and the basket.

Lightbox

You can create as many lightboxes as you wish. They will be automatically saved for subsequent visits and will remain until you choose to delete them.

The name of the lightbox that is currently active is displayed when hovering the mouse over the graphic in the top strip, along with the number of images in that lightbox.

To view your lightbox, click on the lightbox graphic in the top strip. Within the lightbox you are able to perform the following actions by selecting the appropriate option from the lightbox menu to the left:

The recipient will receive a link to the lightbox you have created, they do not need to be signed in or registered to see the lightbox.

You can add an image to the basket from within the lightbox by clicking the basket icon below the image, or add all the images in the lightbox to the basket by selecting the appropriate menu item.

Image Downloads (Basket)

This section allows the user to enter all relevant image usage details and download the images from the site.

Click the 'edit' button beside the image to select from the drop-down menus beside that image and select the individual usage details.

'UPDATE SELECTED ' will apply these choices to all the images in the basket.

'REMOVE' will remove the image from the download basket.

Once you have finalized your choice and entered the relevant usage details, proceed to checkout, where you will be required to enter project details into the text box.

Once this is completed, proceed to order confirmation. Here you will be required to agree to the terms and conditions. Click on the Order request button.

Your request will be sent to the library administrator for approval. On approval, you will receive a further email with a link to allow you to download the image files.

Emergency Images

A set of six images have been added to the site as emergency images which are available for immediate download. Please note that our terms and conditions still apply to the use of these images.
